Will we Always Sin?

Ancf   -

There is no doctrine more misunderstood in today’s church and Christian faith than the teaching on Christian perfection. Many seem to agree that ‘we’re always going to sin’. They casually yet gladly embrace this as common truth, as though anyone who believes in the contrary has lost their mind. So, since most of Christendom holds this view, the validity of this assumption is not questioned, leaving no room for debate or wrestling out the fundamental truths of holiness, as found in the scriptures.

This website is like iron, and as iron sharpens iron, its aim is to aid in the sharpening of those things pertaining to truth and Godliness. It seems, today’s generation is sharpening each other with every metal other than iron, leaving many professing but sincere Christians shallow in their view and dull on their perspective on holiness.

We hope to encourage them who seek to live lives worthy of the calling and who seek nothing else than this…their freedom from sin.
There is no greater opposition to come against the Goliath of phrases such as “We’re always going to sin” and similar remarks, than the Bible itself. And in spite of passages like…’a child of a God cannot sin,’ and ‘…anyone who sins is of the devil’, the cry ‘we will always sin!’ still seems to ring the loudest among our messages.

Even the most powerful messages by great modern day evangelists seem to be tarnished or tainted by casual, flippant tossing of these statements. Never seriously dealing with their own sin, people take comfort in being told Jesus has dealt with it, and so the hungry and thirsty never truly experience real deliverance and peace.

The amount of messages that only comfort the sinner in their sin has brought results that have shamed the church. Broken marriages, unsettled homes and dysfunctional christian families, only reinforce the fact that we are more in need of the words, “who Jesus sets free is free indeed” than any age in the history of the church. People no longer want to be comforted in their pain and bondage. They seek deliverance, they’re hungry for freedom, yet they are given a padded cell and left enslaved to their sins.

One with discernment may hear a strong, convicting and almost life transforming sermon; and quickly realise, no sooner is the truth delivered, that it is brought to nought. After all, what did that message about commitment and salvation really mean anyway?? But something as simple as…’But we’re always going to sin’, ripping at the spirit of conviction and tearing away the heart of change. ‘As long as we’re in this life, you will sin’, this being the only means of comfort the sinner receives, and relief from guilt for a time, rather than the words of Jesus, ’go sin no more’. Consider what Jesus meant when it came to salvation and freedom…‘you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’, and ‘who I sets free is free INDEED!

What then does ‘ Jesus saved me from my sin’ really mean? Especially, when you conclude…’remember, we’re always going to sin, we’re human’ or ‘as long as we live on this earth we will sin’. Did you ever hear the Apostle Paul or Peter speak in such away? Rather I hear Peter say…(2Peter 1:10) be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;…And Paul say…”What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”…Finally, I hear John say “whosoever is born of God, cannot sin”. How ever you interpret these scriptures, one thing is for sure, they are not the flavour of today’s messages.
