The Overcomer - Murmurings

Complaining is so common today but why do people do it? Often people complain because they are unhappy with what they have, over something that has happened or because of what someone has done. They want to feel better, make their point or try and get their own way. But what does God think? Does He not see what has happened? Has He not been in control all along? What if He simply wanted to teach you the beauty of trusting Him?

What is your attitude toward complaining? Do you believe it's normal to complain in certain circumstances? Is it acceptable to complain when things are unfair? Every believer is called to overcome complaining. The child of God doesn't feel better because they complain, they feel better because they have learnt to put their hope in the Lord. The Spirit of God enables us to do this. The Bible tells us to "do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world (Philippians 2:14 - 15).

Christian, what is your motivation? Can you see God's will for you in difficult situations? God has called you to overcome complaining and to trust your Heavenly Father who loves you, cares for you and is in complete control of what is happening to you. When your rights have been offended, trust God. When you haven't got your way, trust God. When you're not happy with what someone has done, trust God. Remember, "do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!" (James 5:9).

Brother, sister, be patient, be an overcomer. Go to the cross, surrender your will, and keep your fellowship and peace with God, your Saviour.
